IT'S ALL OVER, with India now 2-1 up in the series thanks to this 33-run win. Game four of the five-match series takes place in Colombo again on Tuesday. Cheers. Over 49: Patel 1-2-0-0-0-W : 204-10 WICKET! The bowling changes continue as a rather entertaining (by virtue of Muralitharan's fruitless attempts to hit a six) over comes to an end with the Sri Lankan number 11 yorked and bowled. Over 48: Zaheer 0-0-0-0-1-1 : 201-9 Muralitharan is having fun out there, but with no runs to match it's not that much of a laugh. After copping a bit of chin music from Khan he squirts a single away off the yorker and allows Mendis a chance to nab a single of his own to fine-leg. And the 200 is up. Over 47: Kumar 1-2-1-0-1-0 : 199-9 Muralitharan and Mendis swing and miss at host of slower deliveries. They do manage to connect a couple, as the fat lady begins to warm her voice. India set to go 2-1 up in the series in Colombo today. Over 46: Patel 4-0-4-W-1-1 : 194-9 Jayawardene enters the 90s with an improvised paddles that beats fine leg and races beyond the ropes. Then cutting hard, he misses out as point pulls off some sharp fielding. The non-striker is found wanting as the return throw has the bails whipped off in a flash, but umpire Doctrove calls it not out and that's that. The third umpire can't be called for as the decision is made despite the evidence showing Mendis short of his ground. WICKET! Jayawardene cuts another four before his valiant knock comes to an end as another makeshift paddles goes straight down the throat of the man close in on the leg side. Muralitharan is the last man in, always good for a couple of lusty swings. Over 45: Kumar 2-6-1-0-0-0 : 184-8 Jayawardene beats a diving Bhajji on the point fence but has to settle for the two. He then goes over cow corner for his first six of the day, Kumar ain't impressed. A single follows, leaving Mendis to swing and miss at three balls on the trot. Over 44: Zaheer 1-1wd-0-0-1-W-0 : 175-8 The return of Khan to the attack brings the breakthrough. WICKET! After kicking off with an unforgivable wide, he gets rid of Thushara as the tail-ender walks down the track and yorks himself. He can't make contact and has the delivery jam under the bat and crash into the stumps. Now it's Mendis to try and partner Jayawardene in their quest to go 2-1 up in the series. The skipper, struggling with a bit of a limp, has a runner now. Over 43: Patel 0-1-1-1-1-1 : 172-7 Jayawardene's footwork is all over the place as he tries to lap a couple of the wicketkeeper's head to no avail. He then receives a juicy full toss which he bangs to the cover region and watches with a lucky grin as Yuvraj orchestrates India's third dropped catch of the day. A tough one, but at this level it should be taken. Really, stirke bowlers Patel and Kumar should have been on earlier than this. And remember, Zaheer still has two overs in the bag. Over 42: Kumar 4-0-1-1-1lb-0 : 167-7 Thushara plays a 'Chinese Cut' of sorts, cashing in on an inside edge that scoots past the keeper for four. Jayawardene dances around in his crease and swats a delivery way outside the off stump to the leg side for a mere single. Kumar then appeals in vain and is quickly and rightfully turned down. Sharp fielding from India in the infield closes the over. Over 41: Patel 1-1-2-1-2-1lb : 160-7 Kumar pulls off some fancy fielding on the point ropes to restrict Jayawardene to two before Badrinath misses out on a tough chance at long-off as Thushara gets a lucky two. We may still have a contest on here, ladies and gentlemen. Over 40: Kumar 1-1-1-1-1-0 : 152-7 Sharma is yanked out of the attack and Jayawardene nabs a sketchy single as the third umpire replay reveals he made his ground and thus gets to stick around. He then paddles a way a delivery that keeps questionably low, fetching a single for his efforts. That's Sri Lanka's 150 and with these two the last recognised run-makers, they must keep their cool if they are to lead their side to triumph. Over 39: Yuvraj 0-2-2-2-1-0 : 147-7 Jayawardene has certainly upped it a gear or two in the last couple of overs as his upward trend continues with twos to midwicket, behind square and down to long-on. Those six runs hail the arrival of the 50 stand too, as India begin to think twice about that supposedly inevitable victory. Over 38: Sharma 4-1-3-0-0-1 : 140-7 Dhoni tosses Rohit the ball and ask him to do what he can... to no avail. Jayawardene takes to the part-timer from ball one, slapping four through midwicket and then feeding the strike to Thushara. The tail-ender obliges with three to gully. And the peculiar change of bowling remains a mystery. Over 37: Yuvraj 1-0-1-2-4-1 : 131-7 Jayawardene slashes through point and drives through extra cover for the boundary to bring up his half ton. A real captain's knock, but it's probably too little too late. Over 36: Harbhajan 1-1-1-0-0-0 : 122-7 Bhajji's spell ends with a three-single over. Sri Lanka breathe a sigh of relief as the dangerous spinner's 10-over stint for the day finishes. Over 35: Yuvraj 1-0-1wd-0-2-0-1 : 119-7 Yuvi spews out a wide and a full toss, the later whipped through midwicket for two off the bat of Jayawardene. Over 34: Harbhajan 1-0-0-0-1-0 : 114-7 The sweep comes into play, with Thushara and Jayawardene employing the storke to great effect and nabbing a single each for their efforts. Over 33: Yuvraj 0-1-1-1-1-4 : 112-7 A belligerent slog sweep courtesy Thushara breaks the monotony of singles, as the tail-ender shows why he should be batting higher than Kulasekara and Vaas in the Sri Lankan batting order. That's the drinks break too. Over 32: Harbhajan 0-0-1-0-0-2 : 104-7 It appears Kohli or Raina might have copped some sort of projectile to the head from the crowd. The umpires have a word and settle things down, advising security to keep an eye out. Other than that, it's an obligatory single and a tidy two that end proceedings for this over at least. Over 31: Yuvraj 0-0-0-0-0-1 : 101-7 Yuvi is robbed of his second scalp of the day as Sharma grasses a sitter at first slip off the second delivery of the over. Thushara lives on and 'cashes in' with a single on the cut to close the over. Over 30: Harbhajan 1-0-0-0-1-2 : 100-7 Sri Lanka finally bring up their century as Thushara eventually gets off the mark and Jayawardene drives down the ground for a couple of runs. Over 29: Yuvraj 0-1-0-0-0-0 : 96-7 Would you believe Sri Lanka still do not have their collective ton, stuck in the nervous 90s for four over now. Over 28: Harbhajan 0-1-0-0-0-0 : 95-7 Jayawardene and Thushara 'steady ship'. But one fancies they're staring down the barrel of a heavy defeat here. Over 27: Yuvraj 3-0-0-0-W-0 : 94-7 Jayawardene rocks back to cut but only gets the edge, it's three runs regardless as there is not slip in place. Kulasekara nearly manages run himself out but the third umpire replay reveals he gets to stay as the rather rubbish throw from the deep was not quick enough or on target. WICKET! But Kulasekara has to pack his bags the next ball as the quicker one from Yuvraj strikes him on the pads, the appeal is heralded and the decision given. There goes Nuwan, and in comes tail-ender Thushara (who scored 40-odd in the previous clash, let it be noted). Over 26: Harbhajan 0-1-1-1-1-1 : 91-6 This stand is really beginning to blossom now, as the Sri Lankan captain and his veritable sidekick use their feet nicely to the spinner. Five singles are collected around the ground, as the hosts' tally nears the century mark. Over 25: Yuvraj 0-1-0-0-1-1 : 86-6 More spin as part-timer Singh is tossed the ball. He too produces a substantial amount of tweak, as Jayawardene and partner deal with it cautiously. Three more singles, all off them turned off the pads. Over 24: Harbhajan 0-0-1-0-1-1 : 83-6 The boundary-hitting witnesses in the previous over is resigned to the backburner as Jayawardne and Kulasekara return to trotting out the singles. Three of 'em, to be exact. Over 23: Patel 4-0-1-0-0-0 : 80-6 Jayawardene shows a bit of intent, banging a full delivery straight down the ground for four to open the over. But then, his circumspection returns as a single to fine-leg and a string of dot balls end a potentially expensive over for India. Over 22: Harbhajan 0-1-1-0-1-0 : 75-6 Singles are a dime a dozen at the moment, as Mahela and Chamara pick 'em off with consummate ease. A half-hearted appeal ends the over, as Bhajji is quickly turned down by the questioned umpire. Over 21: Patel 0-0-0-0-1-1 : 72-6 Sri Lanka's revised approach is now to face as much of their allotted 50 overs as possible, possibly having a slog toward the end. As it is, Kulasekara gets a single to fine-leg and Jayawardene one to short midwicket. Over 20: Harbhajan 0-0-1-1-1-0 : 70-6 Bhajji is turning it square out there, but for now the Sri Lankan duo are up to the task. They push, prod and nurdle singles left, right and centre as the required run-rate climbs that much higher. A fielder in at short-leg wouldn't be a bad idea, given Jayawardene's penchant for uppish defensive strokes. Over 19: Patel 0-1-1-1-4-0 : 67-6 Startled by the woeful position they find themselves in, Kulasekara and Jayawardene pick off the singles on offer before the latter swings hard and collects a four behind square. Patel aint' impressed, banging in a shorter one to close the over. Over 18: Harbhajan 1-W-0-1-0-0 : 60-6 WICKET! Spin enters the equation for the first time this innings and works like a charm from the get-go. Vaas fails to pick the straight, quick one from Bhajji and watches in horror as the ball slides through the gate and crashes into his stumps. With that comes Kulasekara to the crease, good day with the ball but can he follow suit with the willow. He is off the mark in a flash, leaving Jayawardene to stave off his team's demise for the duration of the over. Over 17: Patel 0-0-W-0-0-0 : 58-5 WICKET! A bit lacklustre on the back of the drinks break, Dilshan forgets what foot movement is all about, stays routed in his crease, drives hard but only gets the edge, and has to go as Dhoni pouches an easy catch. Vaas, batting at seven (too high in the order for our liking), comes to the crease with his side in all sorts of trouble. He couldn't take a wicket today, but perhaps he can pitch in with some runs. Not yet though, as the left-handed all-rounder sees out the wicket maiden with utter caution. Over 16: Zaheer 0-0-0-0-0-0 : 58-4 A cat makes its way onto the field and has a stretch, Jayawardene survives a stifled appeal for lbw, Khan's eighth over (another maiden, at that) on the trot comes to an end, and the planet grows older by two or three more minutes. It's the drinks break too. Over 15: Patel 0-0-1-0-1-0 : 58-4 Dilshan takes a single to third man leaving Jayawardene to scamper a quick single on the back of a dodgy inside edge. Patel produces some surprising bounce to end the over, as Dilshan sways back to allow the delivery to loop through to Dhoni. Powerplay two is up too. Over 14: Zaheer 0-4-0-0-0-1 : 56-4 Dilshan gets another four. This one ain't as blistering as his previous two, as a sketchy edge past Dhoni brings him the lucky four. He keeps the strike at the end of the over, as third man cleans up on the fence. Over 13: Patel 1-0-0-0-0-0 : 51-4 The bowling change brings another quiet over, as Patel's lanky frame lopes in with six deliveries of admirable line. Dilshan's single behind square leaves Jayawardene to again go into his hole for the remainder of the over. Over 12: Zaheer 0-0-0-0-0-0 : 50-4 Khan cannot penetrate Jayawardene's textbook defence, as the Sri Lankan captain closes shop to all ends with the second maiden over of the innings. Over 11: Kumar 0-0-0-1wd-0-4-4 : 50-4 His line is all fine and dandy to begin with before Kumar spews out an unwelcome wide. Dilshan, clearly averse to circumspection today, pulls confidently for four and then goes the aerial route with a hook that almost yields a six. That's Sri Lanka's collective 50 too. Somebody doesn't want to play second fiddle to their captain. Over 10: Zaheer 0-0-0-W-1-0 : 41-4 The left-arm quickie builds the pressure that has a series of hazardous deliveries leaving Silva flummoxed. WICKET! The young batsman can't get the single away and tries to manufacture a stroke that evidently wasn't called for, the forward defensive proving fruitless. The ball hits the pads dead in front of the stumps and thats the third lbw dismissal this hour. 'Mr Reliable' Dilshan is the new man in, off the mark with an edged single. That's the end of the first powerplay too. Over 9: Kumar 0-6-0-W-1-2 : 40-3 Kapugedera gets into his stride with a swift swish across the line that sends the ball sailing over the square-leg fence. The ball boy beyond the ropes grasses the catch and screams at himself in disgust. WICKET! That's the end of Chamra's six-hitting exploits for today though, as a shaky lbw decision sends him packing. Perhaps it struck him on the pads to high but the debate is inconsequential, as Silva comes out to bat. He gets off the mark instantly, leaving his captain to close the over with a confident stroke to fine-leg for two. Over 8: Zaheer 0-0-0-0-0-0 : 31-2 It's the first maiden of the innings despite Jayawardene's finest efforts to drive, cut and punch the ball off the square. The thing is, how long can this opening duo keep going before Dhoni has to look to the less capable Patel. Over 7: Kumar 0-1wd-0-0-1-1-0 : 31-2 A rogue wide spoils an otherwise decent over from Praveen, as Kapugedera and Jayawardene steady ship in the wake of the loss of two quick wickets. In other news, if you have not heard by now (where have you been?) the Champs Trophy has been postponed until next year. No surprise, that. Over 6: Zaheer 4-W-1-0-0-1 : 28-2 Sangakkara takes advantage of some short length and the vacancy at point, hammering a four with a lavish cut stroke. WICKET! But Khan has his man the very next ball as the left-hander plays back to a delivery from around the wicket, it jags back oh so slightly and strikes the pads. The appeal is lodged and the decision an easy one. Now it's Jayawardene in, with his team in a spot of bother. A single behind square gets the host captain off the mark, after which Kapugedera steals the strike for the start of the next over with a tidy drive to mid-off. Over 5: Kumar W-0-4-0-0-0 : 22-1 WICKET! India have their first breakthrough as Kumar's ploy outside the off stump finally pays off. Jayasuriya looks to cut hard but manages only to get the edge and wicketkeeper Dhoni's welcoming gloves do the rest. The tourists are elated and Kapugedera strides out to the middle, promoted in the order today. He is off the mark in the flash as a majestic square drives brings him an early boundary, thereafter choosing to let a couple of deliveries scoot past him in attempt to get his eye in. Over 4: Zaheer 0-0-4-0-0-0 : 18-0 Sangakkara tries to unsettle Khan's line by waltzing across his crease and flicking to the leg side... to no avail as he misses the shot. He then stays well routed in his crease, stands tall, cuts with utmost fluidity and smiles wide as the ball races through cover for the boundary. That's it for the over as a string of dot balls closes shop for over four. Over 3: Kumar 0-0-0-0-4-4 : 14-0 With one slip and a short cover in place, Kumar continues with his line outside off stump. The ploy almost works as Jayasuriya swings wildly and misses. The next delivery he middles and it races past point - a near identical stroke to the one he orchestrated in the first over. The last ball of the over beats the cover fielder and trickles over the ropes as the legendary leftie drives with disdane off the front foot. Over 2: Zaheer 0-0-0-1-0-1 : 6-0 No frills, no fuss, just good line and length from the left-armer as Sangakkara gets off the mark with a scampered single to the on side and Jayasuriya bags a single of his own to close the over. Over 1: Kumar 0-0-0-0-4-0 : 4-0 It's a decent line from the strike bowler to start with as Jayasuriya lets a couple of sighters through. However, he is offered too much width off the penultimate ball of the over and duly savages it to the point fence. Vintage Sanath. WE'RE GOOD TO GO AGAIN, with the players fed, fired up and ready to finish things off. It's the usual suspects - Jayasuriya and Sangakkara - to open the batting for Sri Lanka, and Kumar to take the new ball for India. Remember, 238 is the target if the hosts wish to go 2-1 up in the five-match affair. LUNCH: Well as expected this game was doing a yo-yo feat right from the get-go. You just never know with these two teams and at the risk of having to eat our words by saying that Sri Lanka have the upper hand, let’s just say that this really could go either way. The experts predicted that it’s a batting pitch and India seems to have gone and proved them wrong with a top order that is looking terribly depleted. Join us shortly to see how Sri Lanka reply… Over 50: Thushara 2-2wd-1-2lb-1b-W : What a disgusting over to finish off with. Tushara continues his ridiculously poor bowling and not even the WICKET! at the end can redeem such a terrible spell. Sri Lanka decide to have Christmas early and give away two wides, two leg byes and one by. All thanks to over throws and terrible bowling. Khan tries to finish it off in style by going out the ground but he doesn't get enough to it and Murali at extra cover takes the catch. Over 49: Mendis 1-0-1-4-1 : 229/5 WICKET! And back to the hut marches Singh as he slogs and edges it sky high with Sangakkara trotting to get under it taking a superb catch. Mendis does a good job to redeem himself as he takes the scalp of the Indian captain as WICKET! he bowls full and straight at Dhoni who hits it flat to Jayawardene who takes an acrobatic catch at cover. Mendis was on a hat-trick and there was an appeal for a stumping but third umpire shows that Khan had his foot down in time. Gone are all hopes of getting 250. Over 48: Thushara 4-1b-0-1-2-0 : 228-6 Dhoni continues his good knock by driving through midwicket and keeps the singles coming. Perhaps he is chasing his ton... Over 47: Mendis 1-0-1-4-1 : 219/6 Mendis continues to taunt the batsmen from the other end but Dhoni disapproves and he shows it by taking Mendis on and he sends one racing to the third man boundary for four. He rotates strike off the final delivery with single through cover. Dhoni seems to have decoded the Mendis marvel. Over 46: Thushara 0-0-1-4-W-0 : 212-6 Tushara is brought back into the attack and it's no problem for Sharma to find the fence as he sends the ball along the ground towards the third man boundary. The tables take a bit of turn though as WICKET! Sharma tries to loft over leg side and he took the shot too early and gets a top edge to it and the man at cover does a good job at getting under it. Out marches Harbhajan Singh. Over 45: Mendis 1-1-2-1-4-1 : 206/5 It would appear as if Dhoni and Sharma have taken it upon themselves to pull India out of the depths of defeat. The singles are coming much easier now and even Sharma manages to befriend the fence as he found the gap at deep extra cover and lofted it over the rope. Over 44: Muralitharan 1-0-1-1-4-4 : 197-5 It would seem that Dhoni's self imposed break during the Test series did him the world of good. He knocks up his fifty with a perfectly placed shot that he sent over Murali's head. He finds the fence again as he connects and cuts to the third man boundary. Over 43: Mendis 1-1-1-0-0-2 : 186/5 Mendis keeps toying with India's temper and all they can do to retaliate is take some singles. The 200 is on the cards for India now if these two keep at what they're doing. But will such a dismal score be enough? Over 42: Muralitharan 4-1-1-0-0-0 : 181-5 Dhoni follows his fellow batsmen's lead and takes on a full ball which is slapped through the gap at cover. It was a perfect shot, superb timing and places just right. He is happy to take another take a single after that by pushing the ball towards long on giving Sharma the strike who also sends it to long-off and leaves Dhoni to bat out the rest of the over. Over 41: Jayasuriya 1-1-1-1-0-4 : 175-5 There is some light or maybe just luck for India in that over as Sharma manages to find the fence off the final ball. Full delivery from Jayasuriya sees Sharma loft one over extra cover and to the fence. Good stuff and very welcome runs for India at this stage. Over 40: Muralitharan 0-1-1-1-0-1 : 167-5 India are in desperate need of some boundaries as we head into the final ten overs. The spinners are putting a lot of pressure on these two and cover and midwicket seems to be the favoured areas to just sneak a couple of singles. Over 39: Mendis 1-1-0-1-0-1 : 163/5 Mendis comes back and the singles continue. It would seem that Dhoni trusts Sharma enough to let him keep and take strike as he nudges a full ball towards cover point for a single leaving Sharma on strike for the final three deliveries. Sharma is happy with a single through midwicket before Dhoni finishes off the over with a single through the covers. Over 38: Muralitharan 0-2-1-0-0-2-1 : 159-5 Dhoni manages to find a gap for a couple afer pushing off his pads to square leg then plays through midwicket for the single. Sharma cuts a doorsa towards third man and also takes a couple. Good work as Sharma takes a single off the final delivery through backward square. Over 37: Jayasuriya 1-1-0-1-0-0 : 153-5 Jayasuriya keeps things tidy and continues to put the pressure on these two. Sharma is doing well with helping Dhoni rotate strikes. He drives off the back foot towards long on which puts Dhoni on strike who pushes the ball towards cover and calls for a tight single. Over 36: Muralitharan 0-1-0-2-1-0 : 150-5 India have been lulled back into their state of hibernation now and it's up to Dhoni to keep strike and score boundaries. Sharma does well to claim a single to hand his captain the strike, but India would have liked to have two men who can wield the willow at the crease as they head into the final overs. Over 35: Jayasuriya 1-0-1-1-W-1 : 146-5 India have gone and done it again, poor decisions have sent them back to the naughty corner and they probably deserve it. Dhoni pushed it away to the offside and called the run, Raina couldn't make it back in home in time as Dilshan did a good job with an accurate throw. Terrible running really. It's the tail end in for India now and they're in some trouble. Over 34: Muralitharan 1-1-0-0-1-0 : 134-4 Raina brings up his much deserved half-ton with a single through midwicket. Dhoni then sends one through square leg for another single. Over 33: Jayasuriya 1-2-1-0-1-1 : 139-4 Raina and Dhoni are pulling India out what looked like a black hole earlier. They take six from that over by finding the right gaps and taking the singles. Over 32: Muralitharan 0-0-4-1-0-0 : 134-4 India are starting to get aggressive now. Raina tries to sweep and misses and then trots forward for the next delivery and smashes it through cover and over the fence. It's too fast for the fielders. He's happy to take a single off the next delivery and Dhoni bats out the rest of the over. Over 31: Jayasuriya 2-0-1-0-0-1 : 129-4 Sanatah Jayasuriya is brought on but these two are doing a good job at keeping it steady as Raina approaches his half-ton. Dhoni is happy with a couple by sending the ball down to third man and then takes one by pushing it through point. Raina finishes off the over by pulling the ball towards deep square leg and taking the single. Good work. Over 30: Muralitharan 1-1-1-0-0-0 : 125-4 Murali continues to restrict the batsmen to singles which they take gladly. Raina continues to play through point and midwicket while Dhoni favours long-off this time around. The formidable spin force is not proving so effective today. Time for a bowling change then. Over 29: Mendis 0—0nb-4-0-4-0 : 121/4 Mendis over steps on his second delivery by a massive margin granting Dhoni the free hit which he takes total advantage of as he moves back and pulls it wide past the fielder at mid-on. The Indian captain seems ready to fire and takes advantage of another short delivery by driving it through cover for four. Over 28: Muralitharan 1-1-1-0-0-2 : 111-4 And that brings the sensational spin force into action and India do well to take singles off him. It's not spectacular but it's working. Raina cuts through point while Dhoni plays through midwicket. Over 27: Mendis 1-4-0-1-1-0 : 106-4 Dhoni taking his time to get focused before taking on Mendis pays off. Mendis bowls slightly short and wide outside off stump and Dhoni cuts it hard past the flying fielder at point and it's too fast for the man on the boundary. Four runs, and it’s about time. The rest of the over is quiet with two more singles through point. Over 26: Thushara 0-0wd-1-0-0-0-0 : 99-4 Tushara adds another wide to the tally. Raina manages to take a single by cutting down to third man. The rest of the over is quiet as Dhoni defends across his stumps and just can't seem to find the gap. Over 25: Mendis 0-1-0-0-1-1 : 97-4 Another quiet over for India and they'll have to be happy with taking the singles where they can for now. This is the half way mark now and at this rate India will be lucky if they get more than 220. Over 24: Thushara 0-0-0-0-2-1 : 94-4 Raina keeps it steady and takes three runs from the over. First by driving through cover with a well timed shot and then with one down to third man. Dhoni will have to be the aggressor in this partnership. Over 23: Mendis 0-0-0-1-W-0 : 91-4 Mendis continues to threaten the batsmen and deliver the goods as expected. Badrinath tries to take on the young star but he suffers the consequence of his irresponsible decision. WICKET! Badrinath charged down the track and tried to hit over off side but he mis-timed it and the ball went straight to Vaas at mid-off who clutched onto it and Badrinath has to go back to where he came from earlier. Enter MS Dhoni. India are in need of a skipper’s innings here. Over 22: Thushara 1-1-1-0-1-0 : 90-3 India are gradually getting back on track. The two who are out in the middle at the moment seem content with picking up the singles and keeping a steady pace. Both of them grab some runs through point and that will just have to do for the moment. Over 21: Mendis 0-0-0-6-0wd-1-1 : 85-3 There's a tremendous reception for the young spinner who makes no mistake with the first few deliveries but Raina appears unfazed and claims a massive six off his fourth delivery. Raina goes down on his knee and slog-sweeps over mid-wicket and the ball just clears the rope. That drop-catch virus Sri Lanka picked up during the Asia Cup seems to have evolved into a wide virus as they have been very generously giving away the extras today. Over 20: Thushara 0-1-0-0-0-0wd-0wd-0 : 76-3 Tushara is on the decline now but for some reason no matter how terrible his bowling Raina can't get any runs off him aside from the two free wides he handed them. Ajantha Mendis is warming up...this should be good. Over 19: Vaas 4-0-0-0-0-2 : 73-3 No 400th wicket for Vaas today unfortunately but Raina is back on track after knocking the ball through cover for four and grabs a couple off the final delivery after sending it through deep square leg. Over 18: Thushara 0-0-1-0-0-0wd-2 : 63-3 Sri Lanka have stepped up their fielding and are doing a marvelous job. Dilshan moves to his left at point and fields with one hand, he turns around quickly and throws at the stumps at the striker's end. The pressure is on India now. Over 17: Vaas 0-0-0-0-1-0 : 63-3 Vaas continues in search of his 400th wicket and there's an appeal for LBW but the umpire doesn't agree. Hawk eye shows that it would have just clipped the bails off. Unlucky for Vaas there. Raina defends the rest of the over and is happy to take a single through square. India need to knock things up a notch here. Over 16: Thushara 0-0-0-0-0-0 : 62-3 Surprisinly we still haven't seen either of the spin twins and it's Thilan Thushara who is brought into the attack instead. The effect of an injured Sehwag is very apparent as nobody at the top seems to be able to keep it together for the Indians. Thushara gets off to a good start, it's a maiden over and safe to say that Sri Lanka have the slight upper hand here. Over 15: Vaas 0-0-0-0-0-0 : 62-3 Raina seems to have retreated slightly after the recent flurry of wickets and bats out another maiden over. We're not even half way through India's innings yet so the men at the crease have quite a task ahead of them. Over 14: Kulasekara 0-4-0wd-0-4-1-W : 62-3 Raina gets off the mark with a four over mid-on and then again later with a risky shot that goes aerial off a top-edge but falls safely before bouncing once for four. WICEKT!Kulasekara gets some revenge as Yuvraj falls victim to the man at slip. Kulasekara is doing some real damage to the Indian team. Over 13: Vaas 0-0-0-0-0-0 : 52-2 Oh goodie, we have the first maiden of the innings thanks to Raina. Good bowling from Vaas and Raina is still trying to find his feet. Over 12: Kulasekara 0-0-6-1-0-0 : 52-2 Yuvraj gets going and brings up India's fifty with a perfectly timed show that goes for six over the midwicket boundary, the first one of the innings, then takes another dodgy single. The runs will have to be coming from both sides though and ones and twos just won't do. Over 11: Vaas 2-0-2-0-0-1 : 45-2 The umpires signal the second powerplay and Singh gets off the mark with a couple over mid-on. The two newbies are taking some time to get focused and seem content with singles. Sri Lanaka are back on top of the seesaw…for now at least. When will we get to see a bowling change? Over 10: Kulasekara 0-0-0-W-0-0 : 40-2 Uh oh. Inda's in some trouble now as the blowers strike in tandem. WICKET! Gambhir who has been fairly quiet so far is trapped in front of the stumps after he tried to play across the line but missed. The youngster Suresh Raina heads out to the crease and him and Yuvraj will have to make a plan to pull India out of what seems to be turning into a black hole. Over 9: Vaas 1-0-0-0-W-0 : 40-1 Well there we go. Stupid running from India results in a scalp for Sri Lanka. WICKET! Kholi is walking back after pushing one towards mid-on and deciding that it would be fit to run but Silva at midwicket picks it up and hits the stumps, Kholi is a foot short and this is just what Sri Lanka needed. Enter Yuvraj Singh. Over 8: Kulasekara 0-0-0-1-0-0wd-0 : 38-0 Good over from Kulesekara who almost had it perfect but messed by bowling short of length and Gambhir managed to sneak a single. A wide off the final delivery gave India another free run. Sri Lanka will be looking for some form of break through now either that or for a leash to put these batsmen on. Over 7: Vaas 0-0-0-0-4-0 : 36-0 Kholi is pretty much on fire and hopefully for India's sake Sri Lanka don't like eating eager beavers for lunch. He defends the first couple of deliveries then cuts it hard behind point and Jayasuriya has to dive but it's all in vain as the ball goes under him and over the rope for four. Oh no. Over 6: Kulasekara 0-4-0-0-3-0 : 32-0 Kulasekara continues to bowl and it would seem that India are getting used to him now too. Kholi is having a good go at both bowlers and they don't know where to send their deliveries anymore. He finds the fence as he tries to drive but gets an outside edge instead and it goes through the missing slip and he almost does it again off the second last delivery but the Sri Lanka fielders have stepped it up slightly and the man on the fence just manages to save it. Over 5: Vaas 0-0-0-4-1-0 : 25-0 Kholi defends the first couple of deliveries and then shows his disapproval by sending one straight over midwicket and to the fence for four. India are off to a firing start scoring five runs an over, perhaps an indication of the pitch or maybe just India's desire to win. Over 4: Kulasekara 0-1-0-0-0-1 : 20-0 India are doing some really irresponsible running. Kulasekera does well to hush the batsmen during that over as they only managed two runs and off the final delivery Kholi gets a thick outside edge to it and the man at midwicket took a shot at the non-striker's end and if it was a direct hit Kholi would have been heading back to the hut. Over 3: Vaas 3-0-1-0wd-0-0-0 : 18-0 Things aren't looking too good for Vaas here. He's conceded two wides so far in just two overs and Kholi and Gambhir are looking hungry for mistakes. It's a much quieter over though, perhaps India just wanted to install some fear int he bowlers before they really get cracking. Over 2: Kulasekara 0-0-2-1-0-1 : 13-0 We’re only in the second over and already there’s loads of drama here. A reckless call for a run almost results in a scalp for Sri Lanka as Kholi called it but changed his mind and sent Gambhir back, he was miles outside his crease and lucky for him the fielder missed. Gambhir edged one but it fell short of the man at second slip. The rest of the over is a bit more quiet with the batsmen satisfied with singles. Over 1: Vaas 4-0-0-0wd-4-0-0 : 9-0 Kholi looks like he wants to get off to an aggressive start as he fires at the first delivery but misses and a deflection off the pad sends it past fine leg and to the fence for four. Vaas manages to somewhat redeem himself with a couple of dot balls, but Kholi hits back and sends one racing to the fence with a textbook timed shot. Good start for India.
