Bangladesh 237/9 (49 overs) And it's all over. India win by 46 runs and take the series. A rather disappointing match but perhaps we shouldn't be too hard on the Bangladeshis. A team can only play as well as they're allowed to play, as the old saying goes, and India were very good today. They batted well and they put in a really good performance with the ball, never really allowing Bangladesh into the game. They deserved their win. There's still one game left in this series, though, an opportunity for Bangladesh to salvage some pride and, more importantly, give their incredibly supportive crowds something to really smile about. We'll see you then. WICKET! Mashrafe Mortaza (c Sehwag b Singh) 42 (22) Bangladesh 230/9 (47.1 overs) Well, that was quite entertaining. Mortaza had just hit four sixes in a row down the ground off Mongia in the previous over, but unfortunately hit out to mid-off trying it again off the first ball of the next over. But it was a blistering innings and it showed what perhaps could have been in this match if the Bangladeshis had tried to take it to the Indians during the middle overs. Bangladesh 196/8 (45 overs) All that remains is for the last rites to be administered. Cricket might be a 'funny old game', but it's not that funny. It seems clear now that India will win this match and take this 3 match series in two. WICKET! Mohammad Rafique (c sub b Chawla) 14 (19) Bangladesh 192/8 (44.1 overs) It's a slog-sweep attempt by Rafique but he doesn't get enough on it and it's caught on the midwicket boundary. Debutant Chawla gets his third wicket of the game, a dream start for the youngster. WICKET! Habibul Bashar (st Dhoni b Chawla) 43 (88) Bangladesh 176/7 (40.3 overs) Bashar tries to make a lot of room for himself for a big slog, but misses completely and is left stranded outside his crease allowing for Dhoni to make an easy stumping. So the captain's tepid innings comes to a close and so does any chance Bangladesh might have had of winning this contest. Bangladesh 176/6 (40 overs) Over a 100 runs required and only 9 overs to get them in. In the light of this huge task ahead in order to win the game captain Habibul Bashar's innings becomes all the more mystifying. With 43 runs off 85 balls his knock has done absolutely nothing for his team except delay the inevitable. One expects more from the leader of the side. WICKET! Mushfiqur Rahim (c Karthik b Singh) 35 (43) Bangladesh 151/6 (35.2 overs) It's a top edge from an attempted sweep, a good catch from mid-on who kept his eyes on the ball all the way. Second highest score in the innings for Rahim, at least he tried to score quickly all through his innings. Bangladesh 151/5 (35 overs) Bangladesh are decreasing their chance of winning with every over they play out. It's always strange to observe the behaviour of cricket teams in this situation. Almost as if they realise they can no longer win but just want to irritate the opposition by makking them stay out in the field for as long as possible. One would be hard pressed to find any other reason for them batting the way they are. Bangladesh 130/5 (30 overs) Bangladesh appear to be going nowhere fast. They're hanging around but falling further and further behind the run rate required. It's not going to do them any good to simply bat out the overs, they might as well make a go of it and perish trying. That would be better than limping home to what would be a comprehensive defeat at any rate. Bangladesh 112/5 (25 overs) The situation still looks quite bleak if you're a Bangladesh supporter. It will take an amazing feat from one of the batsmen at the crease at the moment to make a go of this chase. Bangladesh 92/5 (20 overs) Well, Bangladesh are well below the run rate required and 5 wickets down after just 20 overs. Other than that they're looking good. WICKET! Aftab Ahmed (b Powar) 40 (41) Bangladesh 92/5 (20 overs) Bad shot by Ahmed, simply played right over the top of a run of the mill slow one outside off stump and got cleaned up. WICKET! Mohammad Ashraful (b Chawla) 12 (13) Bangladesh 86/4 (16.5 overs) And another one bites the dust. It's Chawla's first wicket in international one day cricket and he's really happy about it. So he should be, it was a great delivery, spinning just enough for Ashraful to play around it and get bowled. Bangladesh 75/3 (15 overs) Even though India had one run less than Bangladesh at this point in their innings, they still had nine wickets in hand. This is the problem for Bangladesh. They have to be attacking, but they can't bleed any more wickets. It's a tough balance to maintain. WICKET! Saqibul Hasan (c Dhoni b Khan) 5 (8) Bangladesh 60/3 (12.3 overs) Straightforward edge through to the wicketkeeper and Hasan has to go. It would take a brave man to bet on Bangladesh winning this one now. WICKET! Javed Omar (c Karthik b Khan) 11 (33) Bangladesh 51/2 (10.4 overs) And he's out trying to force the pace and up his lagging strike rate, but it doesn't come off and he cuts straight to cover. The task becoming harder and harder for Bangladesh now. Bangladesh 41/1 (10 overs) Bangladesh are steadying the ship, but they'll have to start playing more shots soon if they're going to be able to keep up with the required run rate. Bangladesh 18/1 (5 overs) Well, if it was a hard task before the innings started it's become even harder now. It's also worth noting that Bangladesh have never scored 285 to win a game. Mammoth effort required here now. WICKET! Tamim Iqbal (run out) 7 (12) Bangladesh 18/1 (5 overs) Oh dear, terrible mixup, Iqbal hits it hard to mid-off and starts running, but Omar sends him back - too late, as Iqbal can't get back to his crease in time. He's furious with his partner for sending him back but it doesn't really look like there was a run there. Bangladesh didn't need that. 7:55 GMT And the Bangladesh innings is ready to get underway. They need 285 of 49 overs. Big task but not impossible, especially considering that India's strength certainly is not their bowling at the moment. India 284/8 (49 overs) Despite a valiant effort from the Bangladeshis off the last ten overs, which included 5 wickets, India have still made a big total here. It's going to take a big knock from one of the Bangladeshi top order batsmen in order to chase down this one. Join us for the second innings in about 25 minutes. WICKET! Ramesh Powar (lbw b Mortaza) 5 (11) India 273/8 (48.1 overs) Trying to sneak one down to fine leg, but he missed the ball as he shuffled across his stumps. No problem for the umpire to give that one out. WICKET! Piyush Chawla (st Rahim b Razzak) 1 (2) India 257/7 (45.4 overs) Great dismissal, the batsman came down the track to the bowler, who saw it and fired the ball down leg stump. Chawla missed it completely and Rahim was able to take it cleanly and affect the stumping. India 253/6 (45 overs) Bangladesh have done fairly well in that they've managed to take some wickets of late and keep India from breaking loose completely. Clearly, though, this is still going to be a very challengiong total to chase. WICKET! Dinesh Karthik (lbw Rafique) 6 (4) India 251/6 (44.4 overs) Bit of a dodgy decision, Karthik was way down the track and the ball still had a lot to do but he certainly was caught in front. WICKET! Dinesh Mongia (c Rafique b Razzak) 17 (16) India 239/5 (43.2 overs) Slog down the ground from Mongia but he doesn't get enough on it and the ball is well caught on the boundary by the long-off fielder. Bangladesh are doing their best to curb the scoring here. India 221/4 (40 overs) With 6 wickets still in hand for the last 9 overs, remembering that this is a shortened game, India are still well placed for a very big total here. The new batsmen will have to adjust to the pace and bounce of the pitch, though, before they can be too attacking. WICKET! Guatam Gambhir (b Rasel) 101 (113) India 210/4 (38.3 overs) No real surprise that Gambhir has perished straight after his century, clearly he was under a lot of discomfort during the last part of his innings and he was always going to start hitting out once he got his hundred. And that's just what he did, heaving across the line at a full one and getting a bottom edge back onto his stumps. But he can walk back to the dressing room feeling very happy with his contribution. CENTURY! Guatam Gambhir 100 (111) India 206/3 (37.5 overs) Fantastic knock from Gambhir, despite starting to suffer from cramp and requiring a runner he's managed to press on to the three figures. India 183/3 (35 overs) India still going strong, however Gambhir is starting to suffer from cramp. It's a hot day in Mirpur and his long innings seems to be taking its toll. If he cannot go the distance Bangladesh might have a chance of curtailing the score somewhat as there will be two new batsmen at the crease. WICKET! Yuvraj Singh (c & b Mohammad Rafique) India 174/3 (32 overs) Soft dismissal if ever there was on. Singh got himself into a bit of a muddle and lofted a straight one right back at the bowler! Is it too little too late for Bangladesh, though? India 156/2 (30 overs) 20 overs to go and India could easily push this score up to 300. It's looking really ominous for Bangladesh despite the loss of Dhoni. We shall have to wait and see whether they have the batting to challenge the big total that is almost certainly going to come from this Indian innings. WICKET! Mahendra Dhoni (c Rahim b Rafique) 36 (54) India 130/2 (25.5 overs) And a desperately needed breakthrough for the Bangladeshis finally arrives. A sharp catch by the wicketkeeper. Dhoni tries to cut a wide one but only offers a catch to Rahim. India 129/1 (25 overs) India seem to still be biding their time, clearly they are looking to keep wickets in hand for a final onslaught. It has to be said though that Bangladesh are already looking down the barrel of a very big score indeed. 50! Guatam Gambhir 50 (65) India 108/1 (21.5 overs) Good solid innings from Gambhir, though he must now press on and increase his strike rate, which by modern standards isn't all that high. India 102/1 (20 overs) Gambhir is the star of the show for India so far with 46 runs off 59 balls. Bangladesh are still managing to keep the Indians at a steady run rate of 5 to the over, however they have yet to take the final powerplay, a dangerous move which could backfire if they're not careful. India 74/1 (15 overs) India still going very well, though Bangladesh will be happy that they have managed to keep the run rate steady and that they haven't allowed the Indians to get away from them. It remains to be seen if they can keep it up or perhaps take a few more wickets. Otherwise India will start being more attacking. India 49/1 (10 overs) India still going at a solid 5 runs an over, despite the loss of Sehwag. Bangladesh are still staring down the barrel of a very big score unless they can keep taking wickets. Their other hope is that the spinners can curtail things when they make their appearance. WICKET! Virender Sehwag (c Omar b Rasel) 21 (26) India 43/1 (7.4 overs) And Sehwag is out! Perhaps trying the same shot once too often. He had gotten a six off that straight slog just a few balls earlier but this time he hoists it high in the air and mid-off takes a good catch. Bangladesh will be very happy about that wicket as the Indians were threatening to run away with it. It will be interesting to see how Dhoni goes as the move to put him in at number three worked very well last game. India 23/0 (5 overs) Reasonably contained start from the Indians. Both Virender Sehwag and Guatam Gambhir have played a few cracking shots but for the most part the Bangladesh opening pair have aquitted themselves well. Still, if there's no breakthrough soon, the scoring rate could start increasing considerably. As it is it's almost 5 runs to the over. 4:00 GMT The batsmen are at the crease, the field is set. Play is about to get underway. 3:51 GMT Well, India have won the toss and elected to bat. The game will be rain affected, but we've only lost 1 over a side. 3:33 GMT Latest news from Mirpur is that the game is set to get underway at 4:00 GMT, that's only about 25 minutes away. We hope you'll join us then, or alternatively you can just stick around and wait for toss and team news. 3:23 GMT Hello cricket fans and welcome to coverage of the second one-day international between India and Bangladesh. Unfortunately, it looks like rain is once again threatening the start of play in Mirpur. After a much closer game than the scoreline would suggest in the first ODI, Bangladesh will no doubt be eager to prove they can still stand up and be counted in this series. The good news, though, is that the rain has already abated and the covers are off. Play should start very soon.
